How the indicative price is made up
| – | |
| Removal of old heating / tank / decommissioning | – |
| Surcharge for radiators (higher flow temperature) | – |
| Retrofit underfloor heating | – |
| Reduction for replacing an existing heat pump (no new connection work) | – |
| Regional surcharge (canton) | – |
| Total indicative price | – |
Subsidies: when replacing an oil, gas or electric heating system, cantons and municipalities pay grants through the Buildings Programme (Gebäudeprogramm). The amount varies by canton – check it before awarding the job, as the application must be submitted before the job is commissioned: energiefranken.ch · dasgebaeudeprogramm.ch
Assumptions and sources
The calculator provides an estimate, not a quote. It is based on editorially reviewed price guides: air/water heat pump for a single-family house incl. installation CHF 35'000 – 60'000, ground-source heat pump CHF 50'000 – 85'000, underfloor heating retrofit CHF 90 – 220 per m². Assumptions by the Offrendo editorial team: heating capacity = living area × 80 / 60 / 40 W per m² depending on insulation standard, plus 0.3 kW per person for hot water, apartment building at least 15 kW; the price guides apply to approx. 10 kW and are scaled by the factor 0.6 + 0.04 × kW (borehole and unit grow with capacity); removal of oil heating with tank CHF 2,000 – 4,500, gas decommissioning CHF 800 – 2,000, electric heating CHF 500 – 1,500; radiators 5 – 10 % surcharge for a unit with a higher flow temperature; replacing an existing heat pump 35 – 40 % cheaper; in the cantons of Zurich, Geneva, Basel-Stadt, Zug and Vaud 8 % surcharge. Subsidies have not been deducted. These factors are industry experience values, not Offrendo statistics. Offrendo market data will be included as soon as at least 20 quotes are available.
How much is the subsidy for a heat pump?
When replacing oil, gas or electric heating, cantons and municipalities pay contributions through the Buildings Programme; ground-source probes usually receive higher subsidies than air-to-water systems. The amounts vary by canton and change every year – you can find current figures on energiefranken.ch and dasgebaeudeprogramm.ch. Important: the application must be submitted before the job is awarded.
Air-to-water or ground-source – which is worth it?
Air-to-water is cheaper to buy and quick to install. Ground-source probes cost more but work more efficiently (lower electricity costs) and more quietly – worth considering if you have a high heating demand and plan for the long term.
